Dr. Xin Zhang is trained and worked as an experienced designer in womenswear in China before she moved to UK for her graduate studies. She found making something by hand was relaxing and psychologically rewarding to balance stresses during her PhD research.
Originally, she made fashion accessories such as hats and jewelleries using felt, yarn and resin, and she exhibited for six consecutive years in London. After graduating with her doctorate, she fell in love with this creation habit, and more materials and techniques were explored to support her design ideas. Xin decided to study silversmith techniques in night classes, and she started to create her own jewellery collections with precious metals。
Xin launched her UK design studio after finishing her PhD in 2023.She became a brand consultant in 2024 for a new Chinese gold jewelry company.In 2025 she developed her own silver and niobium jewelry as an independent designer label in UK.
